If you’re going to make a statement in the world of collectibles, you don’t dip a toe in—you dive headfirst.

When we launched custompennies.com, we didn’t want to just open an online storefront and sit back. We wanted to challenge ourselves, push our laser engraving equipment to its absolute limits, and give the elongated coin collecting community something it has never seen before.

That is how the 180 Pennies in 180 Days Spree was born.

To be fair, we will do 3 stops of 15 days every 60 pennies released.

The concept is simple but incredibly intense: we are releasing one brand-new, unique pressed-penny design every single day for 180 consecutive days.

No repeats. No lazy designs. Every single coin represents a fresh idea, crisp artwork, and absolute precision.

To pull this off, the shop has turned into a 24/7 hive of design and mechanical engineering. It takes an immense amount of work to keep the momentum going:

• Vector Ideation: Sketching, path optimization, and formatting 180 separate designs so they fit perfectly within the dimensions of an elongated coin.
• The Die Roller: Using our 80W MOPA Fiber Laser to deep-engrave massive, hardened-steel rollers mounted on a high-precision chuck.
• The Perfect Press: Calibrating the physical pressure to ensure that every single copper piece rolls out with razor-sharp, high-contrast, raised details you can actually feel.

Why Are We Doing This?

Because we love the craft, and we believe the classic pressed penny deserves the highest level of modern craftsmanship.

We’ve taken everything learned over nearly four decades of entrepreneurship, digital graphic design, and industrial laser manipulation to make this series a reality. From pop-culture-inspired concepts to intricate geometric artwork, this 180-day marathon is our way of showcasing what modern laser mastery can do on a tiny copper canvas.
