The Route 66 Centennial Collection
This exclusive set of TEN pennies offers a tactile journey across the “Mother Road of America.” Each piece is rolled with precision, designed to serve as both a historical record and a collector’s masterpiece. The Numbered Set of Only 100 Sets will be made and numbered with an Exclusive Coin with the Name of the Buyer and Set Number Laser Engraved in BLACK on the last pressed penny.
The Centennial Commemorative
The centerpiece of the collection is the 100-Year Anniversary Penny (1926–2026). This design focuses on the enduring legacy of the route, featuring the iconic shield that has guided travelers for a century. It serves as a tribute to the millions of personal stories written on the asphalt between the Great Lakes and the Pacific.
The Eight-State Map Series
The remaining eight pennies in the set provide a geographical narrative of the journey. Each state through which the Mother Road passes is honored with its own dedicated map, accurately marking the route within its borders. We have ensured historical accuracy for each segment:
- Illinois: The eastern terminus, navigating from the urban canyons of Chicago through the Illinois prairies.
- Missouri: Home to the rolling Ozarks, the Meramec Caverns, and the historic Chain of Rocks Bridge.
- Kansas: Though only 13 miles long, this stretch in the southeast corner is home to some of the most well-preserved landmarks.
- Oklahoma: Known as the “Heart of Route 66,” containing the most drivable miles of the original road.
- Texas: Crossing the vast, wind-swept plains of the Panhandle and the famous Midpoint of the route.
- New Mexico: A high-altitude journey through the Land of Enchantment, following the ancient paths of the Santa Fe Trail.
- Arizona: Home to the longest continuous remaining stretch of the road, the Painted Desert, and the gateway to the Grand Canyon.
- California: The final descent through the Mojave Desert, over the Cajon Pass, and ending at the Santa Monica Pier.
